Populate master data

Add the departments, designations, document types, lead sources and cancellation reasons every form across the app depends on.

Before you begin

You need the Admin role (or higher) to complete the steps on this page.

Master data is the catalogue of reusable values the forms across the app pick from — departments, designations, document types, lead sources, cancellation reasons, salary components, bank list, project types, and more. Keeping it tidy makes every form faster to fill in and every report cleaner to filter.

Open Master data

Step 1: Open Admin → Master data

Each category sits in its own tab across the top. Click the tab you want to edit.

Categories you can edit

Tab What it drives
Departments Dropdown on the Add employee form; grouping on org charts and reports.
Designations Cascades off Department on Add employee. HR picks the designation after picking the department.
Document types Options in the KYC and employment document uploader for employees, customers and plot owners.
Lead sources The source field on the Add lead form. Fuel for the Sales analytics source-breakdown chart.
Cancellation reasons The reason dropdown on booking cancellations and lead drop.
Salary components Reusable earnings and deductions blocks used by the Salary structure editor.
Bank list Dropdown for bank name on customer, employee and plot-owner bank sections.
Project types Dropdown on Add project (township, apartment, villa, commercial).

Add an entry

Step 1: Pick the tab and click Add

Open the relevant tab and click the Add button in the header.

Step 2: Fill the name and status

Enter the name exactly as it should appear in dropdowns. Leave Active switched on so it shows up for everyone immediately.

Step 3: Save

Click Save. The entry is immediately available in every form that reads this list.

Deactivate rather than delete

Warning

Do not delete a master data entry once it has been referenced by a real record. For example, deleting a department that employees are already assigned to would orphan their records in that filter. Switch Active to off instead — existing records keep the value, but no new record can pick it.
